Santo was one of the best players the franchise has every seen. He was an all around player, winning awards for both his defensive skills and his offensive play. Santo never was elected to the Hall of Fame after being denied many times. I find it disgusting that so many Hall of Famers repeatedly deny great players from the Hall because they want to be the only ones from their position, era, etc. Santo was better than them, he did more for the game. Santo's number is retired and he has been repeatedly honored at Wrigley for his devotion.
Ron announced for the Cubs later in his life. He made the games fun. It was fun to listen to him because he wasn't professional, it was like listening to a fan, someone you could identify with. Santo will be greatly missed in the Cubs organization and fanbase and throughout baseball. Ronnie will be missed and WSC sends our condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, "Old Cub."
